FHNW School of Life Sciences

We offer positions at the Institute for Chemistry and Bioanalytics at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland Campus Muttenz.

The Laboratory of Molecular Nanotechnology (Prof. Dr. Patrick Shahgaldian) is running several projects on the design and characterization of enzyme-nanoparticle conjugates and their application in e.g. biocatalysis and plastic degradation. We also have longstanding experience in the design of amphiphilic macrocycles (mainly focused on calixarenes and cyclodextrins) and their self-assembly study (in water and at interfaces). In our efforts to develop nanomaterials capable of specific molecular recognition, we have developed different types of nanomaterials (based on e.g. polymers, inorganic or organic-inorganic hybrids).

We may integrate scientists (students, research fellows) in our running projects. We may also provide infrastructure (e.g., synthetic chemistry, electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, Brewster angle microscopy, Ellipsometry, Langmuir balance) and scientific supervision (if needed) for related projects.

Requirements:

a) you are already in Switzerland

b) you have "S" protection status for refugees or are in the process of obtaining it

c) you speak English or German at level B2

d) have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree

e) have sufficient experimental laboratory experience

Please send cover letter and CV in English or German. We will help with the clarification of further formalities and requirements on an individual basis. We can also help you find accommodation.
