Nizhyn Gogol State University was founded in 1805 and is one of the oldest among the continuously working universities in Ukraine. Nizhyn State University is committed to research and cooperation that contributes to the economic and social vitality of the region and works collaboratively with business, government and non-government partners. The University trains in 39 bachelor, master and post-graduate programmes and is famous throughout Ukraine for teaching and research excellence. It has much experience in youth and adult teaching and methodology, being one of the national and regional leaders in the field.
The university is situated in Chernihiv region and was affected by the Russian invasion in spring. At that time it was open for refugees and spent all its available funds on support to the defence and humanitarian activities. No premises were damaged but nowadays the university suffers substantial loss in students and staff that puts it on the brink of existence.
