The scientific team of the department of corrosion and corrosion protection of the Karpenko Physico-Mechanical Institute of the NAS of Ukraine is looking for opportunities to cooperate in the implementation of scientific projects with foreign scientific institutions and organizations in the field of corrosion. Our research focus:

• synthesis of environmentally safe metal corrosion inhibitors and anti-corrosion pigments for paints;

• development of multifunctional anti-corrosion coatings by methods of chemical and electrochemical synthesis;

• fundamental and applied research on corrosion and corrosion-mechanical destruction of metals and their welds in hydrogen sulfide environment according to NACE standards;

• corrosion-mechanical studies of metals and alloys in environments of different aggressiveness, tribocorrosion studies, accelerated corrosion tests of metal samples and parts in a wet and warm chamber ;

• study of microstructure, chemical and phase composition of materials using optical and scanning electron microscopy with systems of X-ray microanalysis and inverse electron diffraction.

About the Institution

The scientific team of the Department of Corrosion and Corrosion Protection (https://www.ipm.lviv.ua/department/department_id=6.php) of the Karpenko Physico-Mechanical Institute of the NAS of Ukraine is looking for opportunities to cooperate in the implementation of scientific projects with foreign scientific institutions and organizations in the field of corrosion. Employees of the department have considerable experience in conducting corrosion-mechanical studies of metals and alloys in aggressive environments, as well as in synthesizing of environmentally safe anti-corrosion pigments for paint coatings and corrosion inhibitors based on bio-surfactants, plant materials, and natural polymers. The department has implemented a number of scientific projects in Ukraine (NAS of Ukraine, National Research Fund of Ukraine) and abroad (INTAS, STCU). With the beginning of Russia's war against Ukraine, the funding of scientific projects in the department has significantly decreased, and several of them have been completely stopped. The Institute is located in the city of Lviv (western part of Ukraine), the institute building is intact, all communications are working, and all the staff of the department is in Ukraine.
